The Broad Gauge Society
BGS Membership
Membership of the Broad Gauge Society is open to people interested in this magnificent 19th century railway system.
The annual subscription for residents of the United Kingdom is a reasonable £ 15.00 each year; although new members are asked to pay a one-off joining fee of £ 2.00 to cover the cost of a welcome pack. This includes much background information on the Society, on products and publications, and where to find information and artefacts.
For Overseas members, there is an annual supplement to cover postage - of (UK) £ 5.00 to Europe, or for worldwide surface mail; or (UK) £ 10.00 for airmail outside Europe. However, please note that due to a sharp increase in U.K. postal charges in 2012, these supplements are likely to be revised.
We are able to accept Paypal for subs and purchases by prior arrangement (details from the membership secretary).
Membership includes the Society's Journal 'The Broadsheet'. This is published twice a year on glossy art paper and contains articles on prototype and modelling subjects. Copies of back issues are available to new members.
In addition, the Society publishes a bi-monthly News-Sheet giving news of forthcoming meetings, new modelling kits, and other items of interest to members. These may include newly released A4 Data Sheets, containing scale drawings of items of rolling stock or permanent way, along with their dimensions and ownership history. (There is an index to previously issued data sheets on this site).
An email discussion group is also available to members.
Also, access to a unique range of modelling supplies for creating broad gauge layouts.
The BGS have published several books and booklets, often available only to members.
