Back to Newbury 2001 Introduction

Peter Boyce has modelled four bays of the shed from the Bourne print and a subsequent photograph, including three roads of Broad Gauge track, two platforms and the cart dock. The roof is unfinished on purpose to permit observation from above.

Dimensions are mostly inspired guesswork in order to fit the model onto a piece of blockboard 4' x 2' that has been used in several model railways over the last 35 years. Trackbed and platforms are built up in ramin mouldings and softwood, with a 50:50 mix of grey ballast and ordinary sand for infill between the baulks. Artistic and operator's licence has introduced one road of mixed gauge track and power to the rails for unprototypical working. We have not automated the model humans or shunting horses yet!
