Information on surviving Broad Gauge locomotives, rolling stock, buildings and other
artifacts, plus details of museums, preservation sites and other locations where things
of Broad Gauge interest may be seen.
- Campaigns & Preservation Efforts - Although the BGS are not a campaigning organisation,
there are times when our knowledge can help mto save buildings and other artifacts that
are threatened with destruction. This section describes efforts by our members to save such
relics.
- Locomotives - There is only one surviving broad gauge loco, but several replicas
exist, and a few original parts.
- Millenium Project - Members of the Broad Gauge Society are collating information on the
hundreds of broad gauge buildings and structures which have survived into the newmillennium,
despite the broad gauge era ending over a hundred years earlier. It is hoped that this will
encourage recording the details of these works for future historians and modellers, but it
is also providing an opportunity to identify any which are need of conservation or listing.
- Museums - Details of some of the museums and preservation sites where broad gauge items can be seen.
The picture opposite is taken inside High Wycombe Station showing the train shed roof while the
drawing above is an artists impression of how the buildings would have looked in Broad Gauge days.
